Although Lab freezers may look like freezers used in your home or perhaps slightly bigger than it, they are used to store critical materials, some of which are hazardous. There are freezers that does not use liquid nitrogen but can reach really low temperature levels of up to -150 degrees Celcius.

There are freezers that are designed especially for safe storage of volatile materials that have CFC free, formed-in-place insulation and hermetically sealed compressors. If you are freezing critical biological or life science materials then the freezer should not only comply with OSHA standards but also have alarms, monitors and back up performance features.
The blood bank freezer is a important freezer product, and this is used for storing blood and plasma. Since regular freezers temperature cannot be controlled when doors are opened, blood cannot be stored there. It is not difficult to maintain blood bank freezers since the shelf life of blood is very short and is important is saving lives.
