In the Arts in Education (AIE) Program, you’ll discover ways to harness the extraordinary energy of the humanities to raise instructional outcomes for learners and enrich general quality of life for communities. It all started, although, when he edited 20UNDER40: Re-inventing the humanities and arts schooling for the 21st century (Bloomington, IN: Author House; 2010), a volume that includes contributions by AIE graduates Danielle LaSenna, Ed.M.’07, and Eric Oberstein, Ed.M.’10.
By addressing the 4 priority areas highlighted in this agenda, the Partnership shall be shifting towards the aim that, by the 12 months 2020, every young particular person in America, at every grade degree, will have equitable entry to prime quality arts studying alternatives, each throughout the college day and out-of-school time.
Dana Frantz Bentley, Ed.M.’05, a preschool trainer at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, is the writer of Everyday Artists: Inquiry and Creativity in the Early Childhood Classroom (New York: Teachers College Press, 2013) and of a variety of articles on the humanities, pedagogy, and teacher research within the early childhood classroom.
Field experience – There are many progressive arts in training organizations and advocacy teams in the Cambridge and Boston space For-credit internships via the Field Experience Program are one cornerstone of the AIE experience, offering arms-on opportunities to work with local artists and youth in school and after-school settings.
Individualized curriculum – AIE students are given great freedom to choose their very own tutorial pathway, finding out subjects as different as universal design and technology, learning in museums, management in social-change organizations, gender and sexuality in colleges, politics and academic policy, adolescent development, neuroscience, and more.
